East Lansing hosts a yearly jazz festival with multiple stages, food trucks and a kids' area. The kid events only run from 4-8, so we didn't go too early.
"Jazz hands" in the parking garage.
Our first stop was the food truck area. Since we'd eaten dinner, desert was in order. We shared a table with a very sweet lady who had grown children and was a frequent jazz fest goer, while Billy stood in a long line for something savory.
The only Jazz we could here was an easy listening style, which is pretty low on my list of jazz sub-category rankings. Once Billy had an opportunity to eat, we headed for the kid zone.
Grace and Juliet spent their time crafting and coloring at the library table. Impressions 5 had a booth with a challenge to slow down a giant marble on a ramp. The daily record was 15 seconds, Emily managed 9!
William's marble couldn't make it all the way down the ramp without assistance.
While they were building ramps, Alice stood in line for the face painting.
By the time all of this was done, it was time for the tables to close up. The next band hadn't yet started, and so we called it a night.
I'm very glad we went, but I think this is an event geared more towards adults and teenagers who can sit and enjoy the music, not our crew, yet.
